St. Mary's Church, Maiden Newton

This beautiful Norman church is just 2 minutes walk from our cottages and well worth a visit. Much of the building dates back to around 1150 A.D. with later additions in the 1400s and 1500s. There are many point of interest not least being the original Norman door which has bullet holes said to be made when Oliver Cromwell's Men fired on the church where royalists were hiding.
